What you'll learn
Each question helps you build key knowledge and skills.
- 1Truth tables can be built systematically by listing every combination of 0s and 1s for the inputs, then working out the output for each row.
- 2Boolean expressions use the words AND, OR and NOT to describe how inputs combine to produce an output, similar to a formula.
- 3An XOR gate outputs 1 only when its two inputs are different, while a NAND gate outputs 0 only when both inputs are 1.
- 4Combining gates lets you build more complex behaviour, such as making an OR gate followed by a NOT gate behave like a single NOR gate.
- 5Logic circuits can model real decisions, such as an alarm that triggers if either a door sensor or a window sensor detects something.
